To the curious passerby, who stops to linger and to wonder with kindness in his eyes:

Turn a corner and stumble upon her (stairwell, floor, grass, it doesn’t matter)— sometimes writing, sometimes reading (probably poetry), sometimes just sitting and breathing and thanking the Lord. If it’s an especially blessed day, a warm beverage sits beside her. A pile of books and her beloved KAVU bag are never far.

Maybe, if you come at a certain hour of night, you might discover in the air a determined, gritty homesickness— one that cries out for a place far away, and yet praises the Lord hour by hour for the adventure of having left everything.

It’s never easy (what a foolish thought), but O what blessing she has discovered in the comings and goings and the stillness in between.

Currently in Indiana, learning to wait well, enjoying time with family and friends, in the meanwhile preparing herself again to leave. In August, she will return to Ålesund, Norway, the beloved land of black coffee, Freia chocolate, and a beautiful Christian arts community; where she will serve in missions until 2027.

Slow down & linger a while.
